Crafting a Digital Platform: An Inside Look into the Process of Website Transformation

Creating a compelling platform requires more than just visual appeal. It involves understanding the user’s needs, integrating forward-thinking strategies with functional design, and committing to an intuitive user experience.

Let’s take a closer look at this comprehensive methodology, where innovation met execution:

  • Strategic foundation: The cornerstone of any successful platform is a robust strategy. Begin with a thorough analysis of user needs and stakeholder objectives to lay a solid foundation for your project.
  • User Experience (UX) research: Insight is the precursor to innovation. Prioritize UX research to gain insights into user behaviors and preferences, shaping the direction of your development efforts.
  • UX design: Transform insights into action by focusing on UX design. This phase involves detailed wireframing and user interface design, ensuring the platform is not only visually appealing but also user-friendly, facilitating an engaging and seamless digital experience.
  • Development: The technical backbone of your platform is critical. Develop a responsive, fast-loading site that is easy to navigate, ensuring it caters to the needs of your target audience effectively.
  • Digital marketing and analytics: Post-launch, the focus shifts to understanding and enhancing user engagement. Monitor user interactions, gather feedback, and iterate on your platform for continuous improvement.

Radio 100,7’s Digital Transformation with CBTW

Challenge

Funded by the Luxembourg Government, Radio 100,7 is a local public radio station offering a mix of news, cultural programs, and music.

Radio 100,7, with its mission to lead the Luxembourg media landscape, was challenged to reach its target audience with limited budget and resources, as well as embracing digital transformation to remain relevant to young demographics and people outside of Luxembourg.

Approach

Our methodology was holistic, combining Product Strategy, Product Design (UX), Product Development, and Marketing Analytics to deliver a fully optimized digital experience.

  • Product Strategy: We conducted in-depth research to understand Radio 100,7’s context, user, and stakeholder needs. Through strategic workshops, we defined a clear product vision, roadmap, and user journeys, while prioritizing features to align with budget and time constraints.
  • Product Design (UX): Our design approach was user-centered. We conducted data analysis, UX audits, user surveys, and interviews to gather insights. This data-driven strategy informed our design ideation process, focusing on creating a visually appealing and functional user experience. We crafted distinct screen zones, wireframes, and UI designs, ensuring that the legacy of Radio 100,7 was respected while incorporating a modern aesthetic.
  • Product Development: In collaboration with CBTW’s Software Engineering Service Line, we developed a performant platform from scratch. Our team outlined user flows and detailed development nuances, focusing on IT architecture and content integration. They also developped a three-part platform including a front-end, a dedicated classical music platform, and a back-end CMS.
  • Data Analytics: We implemented digital analytics tools and dashboards, providing Radio 100,7 with the data necessary to make informed decisions. We focused on empowering our client’s internal team to use data effectively to leverage them in their marketing strategies.

Benefits

Our digital transformation efforts revitalized Radio 100,7 and led to significant achievements:

  • User experience improvement: The website redesign offers improved navigation and a modern UX/UI design, making it more accessible and aligning with current design trends. It effectively highlights Radio 100,7’s content while also appealing to today’s digital consumers.
  • Focused content strategy: The content strategy prioritizes engagement, with a special focus on classical music. This approach not only broadened the audience but also strengthened the connection with the station’s cultural mission.
  • Dynamic content management: The implementation of a user-friendly CMS enabled Radio 100,7 to quickly adapt and update its content, providing real-time responsiveness to listener interests and global trends.
  • Strategic data use: Our focus on data analytics has equipped Radio 100,7 with a comprehensive suite of analytical tools. This enables the station to make informed decisions and tailor its strategy to meet evolving listener preferences and behaviors on the long-term.

For the past decade, fintechs scaled fast by renting capability - cloud infrastructure, engineering talent, and core systems. It worked. Until it didn’t. The regulatory environment of 2026 has fundamentally closed that window. With the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) now in full force and the EU AI Act raising the bar on AI transparency, the "our vendor handles that" defense is no longer viable. Regulators don't accept it. Auditors don't accept it. And increasingly, your board shouldn't either.
