At CBTW, we are thrilled to share an exciting milestone in our sustainability journey. Our science-based emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This approval is a pivotal step in our commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 2050, aligning our efforts with global initiatives to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Our Approved Science-Based Targets

We have set ambitious targets to ensure we stay on track to meet our net-zero goals:

Near-Term Targets:

  • Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030, using a 2022 baseline.
  • Target a 25% reduction in scope 3 emissions from business travel, employee commuting, and more by the same year.
  • Ensure 50% of suppliers by spend commit to science-based targets by 2027.

Long-Term Targets:

  • Pursue a 90% reduction in total scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050, starting from a 2022 baseline.

Path to Achieving Our Targets

We prioritize direct emissions reductions and are implementing key initiatives to ensure these ambitious targets are met. Since 2021, we have rigorously calculated our emissions annually, enhancing transparency and accountability in our climate action efforts. In partnership with Tapio, a leader in environmental data management, we have strengthened our ability to measure and manage our carbon footprint accurately.

Our GHG reduction initiatives are fundamentally structured around a comprehensive catalog tailored to regional and local contexts, ensuring effective implementation across our global operations.

Yann Louise, Chairman of the Board of CBTW, stated, “The approval of our targets by the SBTi isn’t an achievement in itself but rather sets the framework for our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate our impact on the planet. Now, the real challenge begins. We will need to take immediate, concrete actions within our company and with our partners to reduce our footprint and become more sustainable.

Claudia Egavian, Education & Sustainability Project Manager at CBTW, added, “SBTi is a significant commitment for CBTW, demonstrating our dedication to sustainability and our journey towards net zero. It underscores our ambitions to create a better future for both current and future generations.

Building Brighter Futures: Our Commitment to Education and Health

Beyond environmental sustainability, we actively contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Quality Education (SDG 4). In 2023, our supported projects reached more than 4,000 direct and 30,000 indirect beneficiaries in the field of education and over 1,000 direct and 9,000 indirect beneficiaries in health-related projects across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. By integrating health and education, we enhance the quality of life and empower communities to break the cycle of poverty through increased educational opportunities and improved health outcomes.

For the past decade, fintechs scaled fast by renting capability - cloud infrastructure, engineering talent, and core systems. It worked. Until it didn’t. The regulatory environment of 2026 has fundamentally closed that window. With the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) now in full force and the EU AI Act raising the bar on AI transparency, the "our vendor handles that" defense is no longer viable. Regulators don't accept it. Auditors don't accept it. And increasingly, your board shouldn't either.

yberattacks often begin long before a suspicious login, ransomware note, or phishing email reaches the organization. Most engineering leaders searching for offshore delivery options start with the same term: offshore development center. It is the right instinct. But the organizations that scale fastest, protect their IP most effectively, and reduce vendor dependency over time tend to take the model further. Understanding what is an offshore development center is the starting point. Understanding why the […]
